We've just completed another poll on Miata.org asking visitors what kinds of Miata(s, because you can't have just one can you?) they own.

The primary results probably won't be surprising to anyone who follows the world of Miatas carefully, so here we go:

<col style="width: 48pt;" span="4" width="64"></col>

NA

NB

NC

Total

142

81

40

254

55.9%

31.9%

15.7%

As you can plainly see, there are more owners of NA's than NB's, and more NB's than NC's. I also decided to see how the ratio of owners on this site stacks up against the actual export numbers published by Mazda, so here's the comparison:

<col style="width: 48pt;" span="4" width="64"></col>

NB

NC

361,321

208,307

69,003

638,631

56.6%

32.6%

10.8%

NA

NB

NC

Total

142

81

40

254

55.9%

31.9%

15.7%

Probably the most shocking thing to me is that our respondents matched up so closely to the actual production and export numbers.

One thing to note is the discrepancy between the NC numbers. At first, I thought I had discovered some profound truth about the Miata community, but on closer inspection I realized the numbers I have for the NC stopped in 2006, whereas people who responded to the poll could have purchased their NC as late as 2009, so factoring in an additional 3 years of production would probably bring them closer together.

I hope you find this as interesting as I do. Any other observations I missed?

We're excited to announce the results of our first poll at the all new Miata.org.

We asked our readers how they use their Miatas and we got some interesting responses.

The first surprise is that 9% of those who responded don't currently own a Miata, but are looking. Given the current recession and season it's nice to see the Miata community thriving with new members looking to join!

Of course, the majority of respondents were in the Daily-Driver or Fair-Weather categories. The Miata MX-5 community is built on the contributions of every day members like them, and it's no surprise they're A. the largest in population and, B. The most willing to participate.

We were also surprised to see very few respondents who tow their Miata behind their RV. Although this could be due to the demographics of our visitors, we are still surprised because the Miata, with it's light weight and convertible feature make it a great tow vehicle.

All in all, it's been very informative and interesting. Please take a moment to vote in our new poll to the right!

2. You can link to your results. Very useful for vehicle sales, or getting recommendations on forums!

Also, the Miata MX-5 News Section (powered by Google News) is now live! Check that category link for all the latest on the MX-5 Miata.

Here's what's next on the agenda:

Parts & Tools section - We want to find replacements for some of the parts which used to be found on this site to make shopping easier!

Regional Miata Clubs listing - We plan on listing as many clubs as we can find on this site to help newcomers find a great club in their area.

Dealers/Service Ratings - We are very close to releasing a tool to help you review and rate your favorite service shops and dealerships. This will help the entire MX-5 community to make good decisions about where they service their vehicles.

Thank you for your continued support!
